I regularly order from AliExpress, and until now, I often had to wait two or…

I regularly get this question : “Can I order medicines or dietary supplements on AliExpress?” The short answer ? Yes, you can find them.
But the real question is above all : is it a good idea ? And believe me, you’d better think twice. I explain everything, straight up and with real rigor.
Medicines on AliExpress : run away
Let’s be clear from the start : buying medicines on AliExpress is illegal in many countries, including the United States.
AliExpress is not a licensed pharmacy. The sale of medicines (even over‑the‑counter ones) is strictly regulated here, and only online pharmacies authorized by the ARS can offer them.
You may see creams, “miracle” capsules for weight loss or immunity, or “traditional Chinese” patches.
But as soon as a product has a pharmacological effect, it is considered a medicine. And in that case, its importation is prohibited.
My advice : don’t even try. In the event of a customs check or a health problem, you would be in a very delicate position.
And what about dietary supplements ?
Here it’s a bit blurrier. Yes, there are plenty of dietary supplements on AliExpress : energy boosters, “fat burners,” slimming capsules, Chinese herbs, etc.
But beware : just because they are freely sold on the platform doesn’t mean they are authorized for import here.
In Europe, supplements have to meet strict rules (composition, dosage, labeling, health claims…).
And let’s be honest : most of the products sold on AliExpress do not meet these standards.
What I’ve noticed :
- Vague, poorly translated or downright false ingredient lists
- No quality label (GMP or ISO)
- Packaging that imitates well‑known brands
- Questionable customer reviews, sometimes copy‑pasted from one product to another
What are the risks ?
I’m not saying this to scare you, but you need to be aware of the risks :
- Unknown ingredients : you don’t always know what’s in the capsule.
- Side effects : allergic reactions, digestive disorders, or worse.
- Drug interactions : if you’re on medication, it can be dangerous.
- Counterfeit products : very common.
- No recourse : if you get sick, who will you blame ? An anonymous seller in China ?
Honestly, to save a few bucks, it’s not worth it.
Are there any reliable health products on AliExpress ?
Yes, not everything is useless. You can order certain medical accessories without too much risk :
- Thermometers
- Blood‑pressure monitors
- Glucometers
- Pill organizers
- Lumbar belts
- Compression bandages
As long as you check the standards (CE, ISO) and read customer reviews carefully.
But even then, I recommend you remain cautious, especially with sensitive electronic devices.
My personal advice
I’m like you : I love a good deal, and I know AliExpress sometimes has gems.
But when it comes to health, I take no chances. Here’s what I recommend :
- Never buy medicines on AliExpress. Ever.
- Be wary of dietary supplements, especially those promising quick effects.
- Turn to reputable online pharmacies with traceable products.
- If in doubt, talk to a healthcare professional.
In short
AliExpress is great for gadgets, tools, clothes or accessories. But for health, you’d better avoid false savings.
Your body deserves better than a capsule shipped with no health control, right ? Take care of yourself, and stay vigilant about what you order online.
