AliExpress reviews

When I order on AliExpress, I always start by reading the customer reviews. It’s become second nature and, honestly, in most cases, it’s helped me avoid nasty surprises.

But beware: reviews are useful only if you know how to read them. Because yes, some sellers cheat, but most of the ratings are genuine and verified.

Here’s everything I’ve learned after dozens of successful (and sometimes failed) orders on AliExpress.

Why reviews are often reliable

The good news is that AliExpress filters reviews. A comment can be posted only if the person really bought the product. You’ll see the label “Verified Buyer”. That’s already a big plus.

Another super‑useful thing: customer photos. And here, I recommend looking at them every time. These photos show the real product received, in real conditions—not the seller’s perfect images. You see the colors, the size, sometimes even the packaging or defects. Honestly, they’re worth more than any description.

Finally, many comments are detailed, especially when the buyer is very happy or very disappointed. That’s often when you get the most valuable info.

The limits to know (and the traps to avoid)

But be careful, nothing’s perfect. Here are a few weak points to keep in mind:

  • Some reviews are automatically translated. The result? Weird or fuzzy sentences, sometimes impossible to understand.
  • A few unscrupulous sellers use techniques to generate fake positive reviews. I explain this just below.
  • Finally, some buyers leave a review too quickly, as soon as the package arrives. The product looks good, but they haven’t used it yet. That can lead to overly optimistic reviews.

The trick few people know: 10‑cent fake reviews

Here’s a well‑known trick some sellers use to cheat with reviews:

  1. They list a super‑cheap product, often at €0.10 or €0.20. But it’s not the real product! It’s just a part, a tip, an accessory…
  2. Then they place orders with several accounts and leave 5‑star reviews like “Great product, as described, fast shipping”.
  3. The result? The product shows lots of positive reviews, a perfect rating, and a super‑attractive displayed price. But when you order the real €30 item, it’s not the same quality

In short, beware of listings with short, identical reviews, all for a tiny price.

How to spot good products?

After quite a few tests, I found a simple method to assess a product without getting fooled:

1. Look at buyer photos

This is THE game‑changer. A real image doesn’t lie. You see flaws, finishes, real size, etc.

These photos show you what you’ll actually receive, not just what the seller wants you to believe.

2. Read recent reviews

A product that had a good reputation in 2022 isn’t necessarily good in 2025. Check what buyers said last month.

This lets you know if the seller changed supplier, cut quality, or faced recent issues.

3. Count the orders

This is my personal secret: if a product has over 500 orders and a 4.9/5 rating, it’s almost certainly a good product. Fake reviews never hold up with that much volume.

The more orders, the more the rating reflects real customer experience, not just padded scores.

4. Beware of too‑perfect reviews

Copy‑pasted sentences like “Perfect, awesome, very good product” thirty times? That’s sketchy. I look for concrete reviews that mention packaging, size, delivery time, etc.

A real buyer often gives specific details: talks about shipping, usage, or even small defects.

5. Compare with other sites

If the same product is sold on Amazon, Temu, or elsewhere, take a look at the comments. Cross‑checking sources is always smart.

If the reviews are good everywhere, you can order with peace of mind. If they differ, be cautious!

In short: reliable, yes… if you read carefully

Yes, most reviews on AliExpress are real and useful. But you shouldn’t rely only on the stars or nice words.

  • Look at the photos.
  • Check that there are lots of orders.
  • Analyze several recent comments.

That’s how you’ll avoid scams… and score really cheap deals with no bad surprises.
